Sow the Seeds of Change

Nature knows how to prepare for future life. A seed contains all of the wisdom and information needed to reach its potential, be it a full grown tree, a plant with lush vegetation, or a cucumber vine. All it needs is the proper environment—nutrients in soil, adequate water, and sunshine. During early spring, when gardeners prepare their soils and plant their seeds, they have hope and a plan for the future.

Each seed has enormous potential. Imagine for a moment, you are a teeny tiny seed. You have the potential to sprout, grow, and reach every goal you set for yourself if the conditions are right. So what is getting in your way?

“A seed neither fears light or darkness, but uses both to grow.” –Matshona Dhliwayo

Seeds need light to sprout and grow, but their roots—the footing of their very existence—is based in the darkness. Similarly, we face dark spots in our lives. Often, we stick to what we know out of a fear of the unknown. We may ask ourselves, “What will happen if I branch out from my familiar path and take a chance?” Or, “What if I face something along the way that frightens me?”

Master Lu shares his response. “All fear is based on the past; how can you continue living in the past? Thinking is limited; the mind is limited. You are teaching yourself how to transform, little by little. Start with small things. You can’t wait until the outside is perfect to change—change the inside first; the outside will follow. To love yourself you have to trust yourself and acknowledge your own feelings—they are good and true.”

Change is a natural process. In Nature, seasons change, plants and animals are born and die, and life continues.

The cycle of life is a constant reminder of the changes we all face. But, do you really want to change? Master Lu shares his wisdom.

Master Lu responds, “We all have this kind of problem. When we do want to change, we don’t catch the moment—what we want to change, why we want to change. When you have the feeling that nothing can stop you, become aware of your body, how it feels, how it impacts you, and what creates this feeling in you. This will be like an access code that you can turn on at another time. Do you, at that moment, close your eyes and enjoy it? If so, catch the moment and continue.”
