Once in a Blue Supermoon

As the intense heat of summer begins to wane, we look to the skies for the third full moon of summer—the first blue moon and supermoon of 2024. Appearing full just two days before its closest approach to Earth, the Super Blue Sturgeon Moon will reach its peak illumination on August 19 at 2:26 PM EST.
A blue moon is normally characterized by the second full moon that occurs within a month; however, seasonal blue moons can also occur. This full moon is the third of four full moons in the summer season, earning it the title blue moon. Be sure to catch it! This rare event happens once every few years, giving rise to the saying, “once in a blue moon.” The next seasonal blue moon will not occur until April 2027.
Perhaps even more noteworthy, a full moon receives supermoon status based upon its proximity to Earth. There are three more supermoons left to admire this year, and as luck will have it, they will all occur in consecutive months. The Super Harvest Moon with partial lunar eclipse—last full moon of summer, takes place on September 18, the Super Hunter’s moon—closest moon to Earth in 2024—rises on October 17, and finally, the Super Beaver Moon reaches its peak illumination on November 15.

Embrace Universal Consciousness

With cosmic and planetary movement occurring, embrace a new perspective, and look to see the good every day. On August 19 at 2:00 PM EST, hold the meditative posture, The Dragon Stands Between Heaven and Earth for 30 minutes or longer. Close your eyes and merge into the wisdom of the full moon. Use this posture to harmonize with Nature, and tap into the loving consciousness of others from around the world.
