Words of Wisdom: No Fixed Plans
During a non-Covid year, most of us block out a week or so every year for a scheduled vacation. We take time off of work, purchase airline tickets, book a hotel, and plan out our stops along the way. With a packed suitcase and anticipation, we create a fun story.
But what might happen, if instead of planning your next adventure, you simply let life take you along for the ride? Whether a full-out vacation or a half-day escape, allow yourself to go with the flow. Instead of scheduling each part of your day, blow with the breeze! Tune in to your intuition. What do you feel like doing? Do that! What are you craving? Eat that!
In the words of the famous philosopher Laozi, “A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.”
Vacations have set start and end dates. We arrive, enjoy the sights, sounds, and culture of a new place, and then head back home on our scheduled day. But life is an adventure. If we live our lives focused on our start and end dates, we’d miss everything that happens in between. Every day offers us a new opportunity to learn, grow, and explore all that life has to offer. Life is not about planning, or even arriving. It’s about fully enjoying each part of the journey.
