Nature Knows: Live in the Moment
We can learn so much from the animal world. Spend just one day with a dog and you’ll see that they don’t hold onto much—only love.
Dogs have mastered the art of living in the moment. Whether it’s time to play, time to eat or time to sleep, they see what’s in front of them and respond. Dogs see a squirrel and chase after it. They hear their humans walk down the stairs and jump for joy. They see an open window in the car and stick their heads out to catch some fresh air.
There is a reason why so many people choose to have dogs as pets. They are the lighthearted versions of what many of us aspire to become. Dogs don’t hold grudges. In fact, they are the first to forgive. Dogs don’t leave you alone when you’re sad. In fact, they run to your side to offer comfort. Dogs don’t worry about what happened in the past or what might happen in the future. Instead, they live in the moment and show their excitement at every turn.
The past has already happened—and it has happened for a reason. Leave it where it is—in the past. The future has yet to come. The actions that we take in the present moment impact our futures. So, live and enjoy. All we get are moments—happy moments, sad moments, and every other moment in between. Be present and allow your life to unfold as you experience the beauty of each and every one.
