Five Tips for Winter Support
The body instinctively knows how to transition from one season to the next when it is in a state of balance and flow. However, external factors, such as heavy meals, stress, medication, long work hours, and excessive exposure to the cold can challenge the body and deplete its precious energy reserves. These reserves are typically used to support the body’s natural drive to maintain a joyful and healthy life.
Follow These Five Helpful Tips:
Tip #1: Build Up Your Reserves
Join our virtual group practices and classes to bring yourself back to a state of balance and build your energy reserves. Some upcoming opportunities: Qi Thursday (ongoing), Winter Harmony (1/12), Qigong for Breast Health (1/24), and Dragon’s Way Qigong® (1/27). In partnership with Tao of Healing, join us for Group Acupuncture (12/19) and Morning Qigong (ongoing Tues/Sat).
Tip #2: Make Four Energy Gates Part of Your Routine
Practice the Four Energy Gates and continue to build a relationship with your body. Watch this video to learn these simple movements. Practice them every day.
Tip #3: Don’t Fight Nature
In many places around the world, the weather is cold and blustery. Even on days that are warmer than average, the essence of Winter is cold. Cover your ears with a hat and dress warmly so you don’t use up your Qi trying to keep warm.
Tip #4: Eat Warming Foods
Soups, teas, and spices like ginger, cinnamon, and pepper are a great way to ease yourself through the Winter season. Eating warming foods gives the digestive system a helping hand and allows the body to deeply rest. Visit the recipe section of our website for some culinary inspiration.
Tip #5: Get More Sleep
Get to bed before 11pm! Being well-rested makes it much easier to wake up feeling refreshed and make it through your day with a sense of peace and calm.
