Ask Grand Master Lu: Reflecting and Setting a True Intention
Every year, we have 365 days to start anew. That’s 365 opportunities to learn, stretch ourselves, and discover the world around us. What did you learn through your Qigong practice over the past year? Did your beliefs evolve or your intuition become sharper? Did you notice outward manifestations—perhaps a deeper sense of calm, a physical transformation, or an awareness of life itself?
The end of a calendar year is a chance to reflect on the opportunities we grabbed hold of in the past year and set resolutions for the year to come. Your Qi must show through life, health, emotions, beliefs, and intuition. As you practice Qigong, your inner body will begin to change on the energetic level. These changes will reflect in how you look, move, feel, and respond to certain people and situations.
As we take note of these physical, energetic, and emotional changes and the ways in which our Qigong practices have grown, we look to set a resolution for the year to come. Many resolutions tend to be superficial—lose weight, get healthy, practice more, etc.—and follow-through doesn’t always happen past the first month or two. A deeply personal practice such as Qigong deserves a deeply personal reflection. So, shift your mindset and set an intention that can help you achieve your resolutions throughout all of 2025.
Question: How do I set an intention? What is my true intention?
Answer: Your intention is based on your belief. Everyone is at a different level. You will choose an intention based on what you believe and what you want to achieve. Your belief far surpasses what your rational mind can conceive.
So ask yourself, “What do I deserve?” Don’t discount yourself. If you want to have amazing results, you must think much larger than your personal goal. A fly is so tiny. When we use a fly swatter that is 100 times bigger than the fly, why are we still missing it?
Your goal has to be hundreds or thousands of times bigger than your personal goal so you can hit it! Imagine the true intention being so great. Everything is possible as long as you meet the requirement. The first requirement is your belief.
Setting your true intention is a way to give yourself a jump start and a natural way to change by connecting your practice to Nature. So think big, and then, think bigger! Base your goal on the deep knowing that you are deserving and you will achieve what you set for yourself.
Take this opportunity!
